Invasion of the Remake Podcast

They are in your theaters, they are in your neighbors homes, and even your own. They have come to destroy your childhood and ruin your future. Only one podcast can protect you from the Invasion of the Remake! Invasion of the Remake is a weekly podcast with hosts Jason, Sam, and guests exploring the cinematic remake. We discuss films that have been remade for better or worse. We will also find those films with a nugget of a good idea that may be worthy of an updating for a new audience with our own unique ideas and cast to throw into the mix.

It's our big 350th episode and we are going fast and furious with our celebrations. The Fast and the Furious began on the highways of Roger Corman's brain in 1954 as an escaped convict steals a Jaguar, kidnapping the owner, and enters a road race that can help him escape into Mexico. While the Universal film in 2001 is not a remake we do find some interesting similarities that may have influenced the Vin Diesel and Paul Walker film. We live our life one podcast at a time and these 110 minutes or less are still free!

A man who once lived a life of violence is forced to confront his past and return to a life he had hoped to have left behind in the Oscar award winning Unforgiven (1991). This week Invasion of the Remake compares the original Clint Eastwood classic to the 2013 Japanese remake featuring Ken Watanabe. Will the remake hold up to the classic or will the audacity of remaking this western gem be Unforgiven?

This week we sent Trish on an away mission to the Okotoks Film Festival where she had two great discussions with up and coming filmmakers you should keep your eyes on. First up is Daniel Christophersen of Norway who directed the short film Swan Song, followed by 17 year old, Canadian filmmaker Jade Andrusiw talking about her short film The Things I Wish I Said But Never Did.
