Suspiria (1977) is an Italian giallo classic by master of horror Dario Argento. It uses big music, odd angles, elaborate sets, and bright technicolors to create its mood. The 2018 re-imagining by Luca Guadagnina relies more on the performances of his incredible cast and an intricately layered plot for his film. A cast that includes Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Mia Goth. Both movies challenge the senses with their dazzling visual, complex storytelling, and artful direction. Which witch coven will reign supreme? Join Invasion of the Remake as we close out Women in Horror Month with Suspiria!

Stephen King's first novel became his first book to film adaptation. Brian De Palma's version of Carrie (1976) stands as a horror classic and even earned Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie Oscar nominations in a rare tip of the hat to the genre. It speaks the strength of the material and the quality of talent involved in the film.
Kimberly Peirce's remake starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore didn't strike the same cord in 2013 as the original, but does it deserve the criticism? Or is it just underappreciated and a victim of it's own nostalgia?
Join Invasion of the Remake as we get all dolled up and go to the Prom with two Carries! What can possibly go wrong?

This slumber party is about to turn deadly. Welcome to Invasion of the Remake's month long celebration of the women who scare us to death beginning with The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) which is the first horror franchise to be written and directed entirely by women. Envisioned as a parody of the slasher genre The Slumber Party Massacre may seem derivative on the surface but it's feminist undertones hide a hilarious commentary on the medium. Invasion of the Remake can't sleep and we're going to come up with some ideas for a modern remake including our own fantasy casting of The Slumber Party Massacre!
