In We're No Angels (1955) three convicts escape jail to find themselves inadvertently helping a family and finding their own self worth in the process. Michael Curtiz directs an all-star cast that includes Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray, Peter Ustinov, Joan Bennett, and Basil Rathbone. In the 1989 version, directed by Neil Jordan and starring Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Demi Moore, and John C. Reilly, two prisoners escape with a death row inmate and hide in a local church. Interacting with the priests and town's folk help them find redemption in themselves. We may not be angels but Invasion of the Remake will sit in judgement on these films. One shall rise to a heavenly status and one will need to repent for its sins. Join us this week as we discuss We're No Angels!

It's 1963, a time of big hair, teen dance television shows, and racial divide. John Waters brought his vision of 60's Baltimore to life with this fun comedy about popularity and racial segregation starring Ricki Lake, Divine, Debbie Harry, Sonny Bono, and Jerry Stiller. A stage musical adapting the film would rise to popularity in 2002 spawning an adaptation of the musical to a new movie in 2007 by Adam Shankman starring Nikki Blonsky, John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bines, Queen Latifah, James Marsden and Zac Efron. Join Invasion of the Remake as we measure who has the tallest hair in our Hairspray battle!

Jack Slater 4 is here, it's sure to be the hit movie of 1993, and Danny (Austin O'Brien) has his a ticket to be the first to see it. Only his ticket takes him inside the movie where he can be a part of the action with his on screen hero. Last Action Hero (1993) is a self-aware, meta-action, comedy film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger that challenges the action movie tropes of the late 80's and early 90's. It has so many cameos and easter eggs that only Ready Player One can beat the sheer volume of them. This week Invasion of the Remake updates Last Action Hero to modern action movie standards adding new tropes that proliferate the modern action film. Join us as we remake Last Action Hero!

Suspiria (1977) is an Italian giallo classic by master of horror Dario Argento. It uses big music, odd angles, elaborate sets, and bright technicolors to create its mood. The 2018 re-imagining by Luca Guadagnina relies more on the performances of his incredible cast and an intricately layered plot for his film. A cast that includes Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Mia Goth. Both movies challenge the senses with their dazzling visual, complex storytelling, and artful direction. Which witch coven will reign supreme? Join Invasion of the Remake as we close out Women in Horror Month with Suspiria!

Stephen King's first novel became his first book to film adaptation. Brian De Palma's version of Carrie (1976) stands as a horror classic and even earned Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie Oscar nominations in a rare tip of the hat to the genre. It speaks the strength of the material and the quality of talent involved in the film.
Kimberly Peirce's remake starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore didn't strike the same cord in 2013 as the original, but does it deserve the criticism? Or is it just underappreciated and a victim of it's own nostalgia?
Join Invasion of the Remake as we get all dolled up and go to the Prom with two Carries! What can possibly go wrong?

This slumber party is about to turn deadly. Welcome to Invasion of the Remake's month long celebration of the women who scare us to death beginning with The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) which is the first horror franchise to be written and directed entirely by women. Envisioned as a parody of the slasher genre The Slumber Party Massacre may seem derivative on the surface but it's feminist undertones hide a hilarious commentary on the medium. Invasion of the Remake can't sleep and we're going to come up with some ideas for a modern remake including our own fantasy casting of The Slumber Party Massacre!

It's our strangest Christmas Special yet! Which, let's be honest, is saying something. The Martian Choir sings, Sean Faust of What Does It Matter Podcast sings, Tricia's (2 Girls on a Bench) kids sing, plus special greetings from Melissa of The Brook Reading Podcast and Gerald & Natalie from the Conspeared Podcast who don't sing but drop by to spread some holiday cheer. Also a sneak peak at our New Year's special Cult Movie Trailer A-Go-Go! and some classic Christmas ads. Someone spiked our eggnog and we're okay with that. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Mars needs Santas and they are going to take ours along with the joy of Christmas for their own. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) is widely regarded as one of the worst movies of all time. It is so bad, it's good. We here at Invasion of the Remake love a good alien invasion and decided to remake the original film by mixing it with another 60's cult favorite...Mars Attacks! Find out how'd we'd rethink, recast and ultimately remake Santa Claus Conquers the Martians on this week's Invasion of the Remake. Sure to be a new Christmas classic!

Christmas is cancelled in this Rankin & Bass stop-motion animated classic. Santa Claus is disillusioned. He thinks the spirit of Christmas has been lost, and no one believes in him anymore. This year he's taking a holiday, this year is The Year Without a Santa Claus. In 2006 a live-action remake starring John Goodman, Christ Kattan, Ethan Suplee, Dylan Minnette, Eddie Griffin, Delta Burke, Harvey Fierstein, Michael McKean, and Carol Kane would grace our screens. Can it capture the magic of the original or will it melt away in our memories? Join Invasion of the Remake as we investigate The Year Without a Santa Claus!

This week we bring you all the horror with the cult classic horror C.H.U.D. (1984). These cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers have a taste for human flesh and are coming for you from the sewers of New York city. C.H.U.D. is a horror, comedy, commentary on the homeless and irresponsible toxic waste dumping in the 80's; can we rethink and remake it? Invasion of the Remake is once again invaded by other podcasts in remaking C.H.U.D. as part of #AllTheHorror month. Joining us this week are What Does It Matter, Brook Reading, Movie Geek & Proud, and Loosely Based on Movies. Listen to us and some of the best personalities in podcasting as we open the manholes to find us some C.H.U.D.s.
