Young Jill adopts a baby ape, named Joe, who grows into one gigantic ape! Seeking a better life for him she takes him to California, but the bright lights of the big city might not be the best habit for Mighty Joe Young.

Mighty Joe Young (1949) is a classic that showcased the first stop motion effects wizardry of Ray Harryhausen, bringing to life a larger than life ape named Joe. Terry Moore, Ben Johnson, and Robert Armstrong starred in this family adventure film. Nearly 50 years later Bill Paxton, Charlize Theron along with director Ron Underwood would remake Mighty Joe Young (1998) under the Walt Disney banner for a new generation. Neither were very successful, but both are wonderful examples of hidden gems that we will reveal in this week's episode of Invasion of the Remake!

This is one of the most requested episodes we have ever had. 300 (2006) based on the Frank Miller graphic novel is not a remake of The 300 Spartans (1963) but who are we to deny a fascinating comparison of this moment in Greek history. This is a comparison of history versus mythology. This is a tale that defined freedom and democracy in the western world. This is a story of a small band of warriors standing against a superior force. This is Sparta!
